Local Status : Resident (SMP Status 4) Distribution and abundance : Rare Flight Period : Single-brooded; May to June Larval foodplants : In the stem and roots of Marsh Thistle (Cirsium palustre) or Black Knapweed (Centaurea nigra) Records : Stowmarket (A Aston, viii.1948), Elveden (B Statham, vii.2002) Morley's Final Catalogue : Morley did not differentiate between E. scutulana and E. cirsiana. Quite a frequent kind among thistles. Copdock, Bentley Woods in June, Trimley marshes, Staverton Thicks in August, Parham Wood in May, Aldeburgh, Leiston, Henham, Lowestoft, Ringsfield, Gorleston. Brandon in July, and Tuddenham. Aston's Additions : Specimen at light at Stowmarket in August, 1948 which Mr. Wakely determined for me (Trans. XI, pt. II, p. 144).
