Local Status : Resident (SMP Status 3) Distribution and abundance : Widespread and common Habitats : Scrub, woodland, grassland, fens and gardens Flight Period : Single-brooded; late June to mid-August Larval foodplants : hawthorns (Crataegus) and also Rowan (Sorbus aucuparia) Morley's Final Catalogue : By no means rare. Felixstow in 1903 (Gibbs, EMM. 1904, 80) ; at Monks Soham light in July 1920-35 (Morley); Aldeburgh by Ctw (EMM. 1892, 254); Lowestoft in August (Ent. 1922, 258); three at Bungay in 1899 (Mn); Fritton at light (D).
