Local Status : Resident (SMP Status 1) Distribution and abundance : Widespread and common Habitats : In a wide variety, including grassland, heathland, open woodland, scrub and gardens Flight Period : Single-brooded; May to mid-September Larval foodplants : Various herbaceous plants Morley's Final Catalogue : By no means so ' common ' as Bloomfield would have us believe. Never seen at Monks Soham during thirty years' residence (Mly); and quite rare at light in Ipswich, 1893-1904 (Baylis, Pyett). No recent records, except near Aldeburgh (Trans. ii, 295), freely at Hemley sugar in 1901 (Wlr); Covehithe at light in 1936 (Gd); one in Burgh Castle marshes in 1929 (Wiltshire).
