Local Status : Resident (SMP Status 2) Distribution and abundance : Widespread but infrequent Habitats : Wet woodland, fens, heathland and riverbanks Flight Period : Single-brooded; mid-June to July Larval foodplants : The leaves and catkins of willows, sallows and poplars Morley's Final Catalogue : Apparently much rarer than formerly. Locally common about Playford, Needham, Stowmarket, Aldeburgh, Leiston and Beccles, ante 1890. A solitary specimen on sugar by the Gipping at Ipswich on 26 July 1895 (Baylis). Not rare at Hemley during 1910-29 (Wlr). I have never seen it in Suffolk (Mly). Wingspan details : Forewing 15-19mm, Wingspan 32-42mm Identification
